Sound and Collage Installation
Berlin Universität der Künste, 2024
This installation critiques the unattainable ideals perpetuated by fast fashion, diet culture, and social media, framing the experience through the lens of a hyper-perfectionist teenage girl. The locker is a meticulously curated and overly controlled environment, embodying the character’s obsessive pursuit of perfection. Beneath its polished and hyper-feminized surface lies a growing sense of unease—a tension between her rigid control and the overwhelming pressures imposed by society. The auditory elements—layered with TikTok tutorials, ASMR grooming sounds, and monologues—mimic the ceaseless barrage of advice, standards, and comparisons teenagers face in the information age. This piece invites viewers to reflect on the mental strain and emotional fragility lurking behind a flawlessly maintained facade. PUR COLLECTIVE (Clay Hillenberg, Anaparn Nampai, Grace Lu)
